Food Safety, Quality, Legality, Authenticity, Integrity & Sustainability Policy
The Food Safety Policy has been documented and communicated through the Food Safety Policy Statement at all levels of the Company, by being posted in the Company’s premises, distributed to its personnel and published on the Company’s website in order to inform all external interested parties.
The Company’s Food Safety Policy is as follows:
SUGARTIA LTD., responding to the requirements of modern business reality and aiming at the production and packaging of safe products, as well as the improvement of its organizational structure and internal communication, has decided to design and implement a Product Safety System in accordance with the requirements of FSSC 22000 version 6 and IFS version 8.
The Company’s Product Safety System covers the production of icing sugar and the packaging of white granulated sugar, icing sugar and brown sugar at its facilities in the Central Vegetable Market area in Thessaloniki, as well as the trade and distribution of sugar products.
SUGARTIA LTD. considers product safety and hygiene to be a self-evident and minimum requirement, and compliance with all national and international regulations is one of its fundamental principles.
Customer satisfaction and the assurance of customer trust, through the fulfilment of defined quality and safety specifications and consistency in deliveries, are basic principles of SUGARTIA LTD. The general objective is to offer the Company’s customers safe, high-quality products. More specifically, the Company seeks:
- Continuous compliance of products and packaging with the requirements of national and EU legislation.
- All laboratory analysis results of the Company’s final products to follow the analysis plan and remain within the limits defined by European and Greek legislation.
- Commitment to the authenticity of our products by purchasing genuine raw materials and verifying their origin.
- Commitment to the integrity of our products by providing consumers with accurate information regarding their composition and production methods. In line with ethical standards, the Company prohibits any form of adulteration, fraud or misleading practices in its activities and supply chain.
- Dedication to minimizing our environmental footprint through the implementation of sustainable practices, such as reducing food waste, responsible sourcing of ingredients and promoting environmentally friendly packaging and transportation methods. By integrating sustainability into our food safety measures, we aim to protect public health and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
- Product returns or customer complaints regarding product safety not to exceed 5% of the total products sold.
- Supplier products and services to meet the Company’s requirements.
- The continuous expansion of the Company’s market share through the sales department.
- Full satisfaction of customer contracts.
- The percentage of fully satisfied customers in terms of product quality and delivery consistency to reach 80%.
- The continuous upgrading of the Company’s workforce through annual training programs, as well as the recruitment of qualified new employees.
- Provision of the resources required for the production of safe, high-quality products.
- The initiation and awareness of personnel in food safety culture, with the aim of making personnel more committed and insightful regarding food safety and, as a result, ensuring that the Company is fully aligned with legislation, better organized and cost-effective.
- Respect for international laws regarding child labour and the non-employment of minors in any activity of the Company.
- The continuous improvement of the Product Safety System and of the Company’s operation through the effective use of the following tools:
- Definition and review of product safety objectives.
- Management Review.
- Internal Audits.
- Corrective and Preventive Actions.
In order to achieve the above objectives, all necessary references have been included in the documentation of the Product Safety System. Through systematic planning, process control and the continuous improvement of all activities, the Company’s principles are fulfilled.
Management is committed to providing the resources and means deemed necessary for the implementation of its operations and for the achievement of the policy and objectives included herein.
All personnel are called upon to participate in strengthening the above effort. Each employee is responsible for the quality of their own work and is required to contribute to the management of product safety and the achievement of the defined objectives. For this reason, all employees, according to their responsibilities, are informed about the Food Safety System and act demonstrably in accordance with the defined rules.
The Company, respecting the efforts of its personnel, is obliged to ensure proper working conditions and recognition upon the achievement of specific objectives.
The philosophy and values of SUGARTIA LTD. include avoiding environmental burden, the prudent use of natural resources and the application of health and safety rules with the aim of sustainable development. Respecting the environment, the Company collects and recycles all by-products and packaging materials.
Procedures, flows and actions that do not guarantee the fulfilment of the defined objectives are immediately stopped by the responsible persons, root cause analyses are carried out and the required improvement measures are defined.
